DOFIN at 30

The master program in Finance and Banking - DOFIN was accredited in 1994 by the European Commission under the name Doctoral School of Finance and Banking (DOFIN) - European Center of Excellence, being selected following an international competition held in Brussels. The program was initiated in partnership with University of Reading - UK, University of Toulouse - France and Erasmus University - Netherlands. The number of partners increased over time, DOFIN collaborating with numerous prestigious universities.

The goal of the DOFIN program consists in training of highly qualified specialists, able to offer solutions based on the qualitative-quantitative analysis of the economic-financial phenomena manifesting in the field of finance and banking. In order to achieve its mission, the program curriculum consist in subjects that develop the students ability of analysis, synthesis and decision-making, familiarizing them both with fundamental concepts in economics and modern finance, as well as with econometric techniques for quantifying financial-monetary phenomena.

The program finalizes with a dissertation that is defended in front of an international committee consisting of professors from partner universities, as well as Romanian professors and specialists.

The DOFIN program is also part of the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program.

DOFIN graduates have a high degree of competitiveness both on the domestic and international labor markets. DOFIN graduates include economists in specialized departments from the National Bank of Romania, ECB, European Commission, chief economists from banks in Romania and abroad, as well as economists in top management positions in commercial banks. Also, several DOFIN graduates are professors at Romanian universities and at prestigious universities abroad, such as Columbia University – USA, Oxford University – UK, Cambridge University – UK, Durham University – UK, Lancaster University – UK, University of Amsterdam – Netherlands, University of Copenhagen – Denmark.
